What is Payment Orchestration?

What does 'Payment Orchestration' mean?

A layer that sits between a merchant and multiple payment providers, routing each transaction to whichever acquirer or gateway is most appropriate. It handles retries and failover when a provider declines or goes down, and lets a business add or swap providers without rebuilding its checkout. Merchants use it to lift authorisation rates, cut processing costs and support local payment methods across markets.
