What is Design Systems?

What does 'Design Systems' mean?

A shared, versioned library of reusable components, styles and rules that keeps a product or brand visually consistent across screens and teams. Rather than recreating a button or colour every time, designers pull from defined tokens, typography scales and component variants that are maintained centrally. Updating the source library propagates the change everywhere it is used, which is what separates a design system from a static style guide.
