What is Depreciation Tracking?
What does 'Depreciation Tracking' mean?
Recording how the value of a fixed asset declines over its useful life and posting that expense to the ledger period by period. The software holds each asset's cost, in-service date, useful life and method, then calculates the charge automatically using approaches such as straight-line or declining balance. It also maintains the accumulated depreciation and net book value needed for the balance sheet and for tax reporting.
