The short answer: Salesforce prices Agentforce three ways, and you choose by who the agent serves. For consumption, Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000 credits, and each standard agent action uses 20 credits (about $0.10), or 30 credits for an Agentforce Voice action. The alternative consumption model is $2 per conversation, for customer-facing agents. For employee use there are per-user licenses: Agentforce add-ons for Sales, Service, and Field Service and Operations at $125 per user per month with unmetered employee usage, Industries add-ons at $150, Agentforce 1 Editions from $550 per user per month (including 2.5 million Flex Credits per org per year), and an Agentforce User License at $5 per user per month that draws on Flex Credits. Salesforce Foundations lets you start building agents at $0.

This guide explains each option, shows Salesforce’s own cost examples, gives a formula for estimating your bill, and answers the questions buyers ask most when comparing Agentforce with Microsoft Copilot. Prices are the US list prices on Salesforce’s Agentforce pricing page at the time of writing. Salesforce notes that the page is for information only and subject to change, so check current pricing and the Agentforce rate card with your account executive.

Agentforce pricing at a glance

Option List price (US) Use it for Billing
Salesforce Foundations $0 Getting started: Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder, Agent Script Free
Flex Credits $500 per 100,000 credits Any use case: customer-facing and employee agents, Voice, Slackbot Pre-Purchase, Pre-Commit or PayGo
Conversations $2 per conversation Customer-facing agents Pre-Purchase
Agentforce User License $5 per user per month (requires Flex Credits) Giving every employee access to agents, with limited CRM objects and metered usage Per user plus credits
Agentforce add-ons (Sales, Service, Field Service and Operations) $125 per user per month Unmetered employee agent usage for licensed CRM users Per user
Agentforce Industries add-ons $150 per user per month Industry Clouds users Per user
Agentforce 1 Editions From $550 per user per month Full edition with the add-on and 2.5M Flex Credits per org per year Per user

Salesforce’s comparison table also lists Help Agent Resolutions at $2 each. Data 360 credits and other consumption services are priced separately; Salesforce’s own examples exclude them.

How do Flex Credits work?

A Flex Credit is Salesforce’s unit of payment for agent work. Every action an agent executes, such as updating a record, summarizing a case, answering a product question from knowledge, or running a custom prompt or flow, draws from a shared pool of credits. Salesforce says standard Agentforce actions cost 20 Flex Credits and Agentforce Voice actions cost 30. At $500 per 100,000 credits, one credit costs half a cent, so:

  • One standard action = 20 credits = $0.10
  • One Voice action = 30 credits = $0.15

Credits are fungible across actions, prompts, translations and Voice actions, and can be applied across teams and channels. Usage is tracked in near real time in Digital Wallet, which Salesforce provides free with usage-based products and which can send threshold alerts.

Rules worth knowing before you buy: unused Flex Credits do not roll over to the next subscription term; if you exceed your balance there is no overage penalty, and extra use is billed at your contracted rate monthly in arrears; and an org cannot run Flex Credits and Conversations pricing at the same time, though you can swap all Conversation SKUs to Flex Credits.

Flex Credits vs Conversations: which costs less?

Conversations are a flat $2 each, no matter how many steps the agent takes. Flex Credits charge per action. That gives a simple break-even: $2 buys 400 credits, which is 20 standard actions. A customer conversation that needs fewer than 20 actions costs less on Flex Credits; one that needs more costs less on Conversations. In Salesforce’s own “Where is my order?” example, a conversation uses two actions (authenticate the customer, retrieve the order), which is 40 credits or $0.20 on Flex Credits against $2 on Conversations.

Salesforce positions Conversations as optimized for external customer agents and Flex Credits as the more flexible option that works across every use case and buying model. Flex Credits also give more granular usage data in Digital Wallet.

Salesforce’s own cost examples

These are Salesforce’s illustrative examples from its pricing page. It stresses that actual usage varies and that the examples exclude Data 360 credits and other consumption services.

Scenario Actions per task Assumed volume Credits per month Cost per month
Customer self-service: order status 2 20 requests a day for 30 days 24,000 $120
Service case management by employees 3 100 users x 3 cases a day x 20 days 360,000 $1,800
Field service appointment scheduling 5 10 reps x 3 appointments a day x 20 days 60,000 $300
IT onboarding questions 1 20 new employees x 5 questions a month 2,000 $10
Voice reservation changes 4 Voice actions 300 calls a month 36,000 $180

The case-management row is the one to study if you are weighing per-user add-ons. At 100 users and roughly $1,800 a month in credits, consumption works out to about $18 per user per month for that single workflow. The $125 add-on covers unmetered employee usage across many workflows, so it becomes the better deal as employees use agents for more of their work.

Agentforce buying models

  • Pre-Purchase: buy a set amount of usage for the whole term and pay upfront. Salesforce says this saves the most.
  • Pre-Commit: commit to a baseline with no upfront payment, billed monthly in arrears, with a true-up at term end if you use less than committed. Salesforce says it will be widely available later this year.
  • PayGo: no commitment, pay for what you use monthly in arrears.

PayGo and Pre-Commit are available for Flex Credits only. Conversations, the add-ons and Agentforce 1 Editions are not sold on those models.

Is Agentforce included in Salesforce?

Partly. Salesforce Foundations gives you the building tools (Agentforce Builder, Prompt Builder, Agent Script) at $0 as a starting point; check its eligibility on the Foundations page. Running agents in production is paid, through Flex Credits, Conversations or per-user licenses. Agentforce 1 Editions are the exception in the sense that the edition price already includes the Agentforce add-on and 2.5 million Flex Credits per org per year.

What is the difference between Salesforce and Agentforce?

Salesforce is the company and its CRM platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and others). Agentforce is the agent layer on that platform: AI agents that act on CRM records, knowledge and flows, for customers (self-service, voice) and for employees (case handling, scheduling, research). Agentforce agents are strongest where the data and processes already live in Salesforce.

What are the main differences between Salesforce Agentforce and Microsoft Copilot?

Question Agentforce Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio
Home ground Salesforce CRM data, flows and customer channels Microsoft 365: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint
Employee pricing $125 per user per month add-ons with unmetered usage, or $5 user license plus credits Microsoft 365 Copilot at $30 per user per month paid yearly; licensed users can build and use internal agents at no extra cost
Consumption pricing $500 per 100,000 Flex Credits; 20 credits per action Copilot Studio at $200 per month per 25,000 Copilot Credits, or pay-as-you-go
Customer-facing agents Core use case: $2 per conversation or Flex Credits; Voice supported Copilot Studio standalone license needed to publish to websites and other external channels
Prerequisite Salesforce platform licenses for most use cases A qualifying Microsoft 365 plan for Copilot seats

Note that a Salesforce Flex Credit and a Microsoft Copilot Credit are different units with different consumption rules, so compare cost per completed task in a pilot, not cost per credit. Our Copilot Studio vs Agentforce comparison and Microsoft Copilot pricing guide go deeper.

For small businesses, is Agentforce or Copilot a better fit?

Follow your systems of record. If your small business already runs sales and support in Salesforce and wants a customer-facing agent that answers order or case questions, Agentforce fits: you can start building at $0 with Foundations and pay per action or per conversation as volume grows, which suits low, uneven volumes. If your team mainly works in email, Teams and Office documents and wants help drafting, summarizing and preparing for meetings, Microsoft 365 Copilot Business (listed at $21 per user per month paid yearly for up to 300 users) fits better, because it works inside the apps you already pay for. Many small businesses do not need both; pick the one that sits on the data your people use every day.

Which is more affordable for enterprise users, Agentforce or Copilot?

On list prices, a Microsoft 365 Copilot seat ($30 per user per month) costs less than an Agentforce add-on ($125 per user per month), but they do different jobs: Copilot helps with productivity work in Microsoft 365, while the Agentforce add-on gives unmetered agent usage on CRM work for Sales, Service and Field Service users. For employees who only occasionally use CRM agents, the $5 Agentforce User License plus Flex Credits may cost less than either. The affordable choice is the one priced on the unit you use most: seats for daily heavy users, consumption for occasional or customer-facing use.

Which is more customizable, Agentforce or Copilot?

Both offer low-code agent builders. Agentforce builds on Salesforce’s metadata, flows, Prompt Builder and Agent Script, so customization is deepest for processes modelled in Salesforce. Copilot Studio builds on Microsoft 365, Power Platform connectors and the Microsoft Graph, so it is deepest for processes that run across Microsoft tools. Customizability in practice depends on which platform your admins and developers already know.

How to estimate your Agentforce cost

Monthly consumption cost = tasks per month x actions per task x credits per action x $0.005

Monthly license cost = users x per-user price

  1. List each agent use case and the actions one task needs (Salesforce’s examples use 1 to 5).
  2. Estimate monthly task volume from your current case, order or ticket counts.
  3. Use 20 credits per standard action and 30 per Voice action.
  4. For customer conversations, compare against $2 per conversation using the 20-action break-even.
  5. For employee use, compare consumption per user with the $125 add-on or $5 user license.
  6. Add Data 360 or other consumption services if your agents need them.

Why is Salesforce so expensive?

Buyers usually mean license stacking: platform licenses, then add-ons, then consumption. Agentforce follows that pattern, but it also gives lower-cost entry points than per-seat add-ons, such as $0 Foundations for building, $5 user licenses, and PayGo Flex Credits with no commitment. Control spend by starting with one high-volume workflow, setting Digital Wallet alerts, and buying per-user add-ons only for people whose usage justifies them.
