Family Publications signed up for…
Family Publications signed up for service and we were quoted $1300 as a flat fee. We were billed for $1415.38. We email our sales person. Told the difference was taxes. When we explained that he quoted as a flat fee of $1300. I ask to speak with his supervisor but the supervisor never contact us. Very disappointed. Just wanted a sales. You should honor the $1300 included taxes. Sales service unethical.

talked to a real human who understood the problem. Told me what I needed to do with the DNS and said to call back to support after I was finished so they could move things around. Both the first call and the followup worked flawlessly. I LOVE WP ENGINE!!!

No longer recommending due to overage charges on bot traffic
I've been recommending WPengine as a tech person to non tech people for years. But my recent experience made me stop doing this. You keep charging this person for "users" overage even though it's all 100% bots and spam. You claim you block bots and spam, yet this user has so many hits that you charge overage for them. We have to proactively reach to support all the time to block the very obvious bots to avoid overage. They add nginx rules manually. This is very frustrating.

The phone service is good. The chat service on the website is awful. You ask simple questions and before anything, they want all your information. What's the point of having a chat service on the website if you can't answer simple questions? But I believe that is their training.

15+ websites with WpEngine and growing...
We run 15+ websites with WpEngine all on a dedicated GCP server and have been happy with the service and support. It's true that customers don't have a view into server-side performance and can't access Apache/Ngninx configs but if you really cared about these things you'd want to self-host your Wordpress sites. I like the fact that New Relic and Cloudflare WAF is bundled into the pricing and the truth is that the WpEngine servers have been rock solid (100% availability). Wordpress can be ...

Initial communication is excellent
Initial communication is excellent, but once the issue was passed to the engineering team to work on, further details on what the problem was and a timescale for fixing it were (seemingly) slow to appear

So glad I moved to WP Engine.
I'd never used WP Engine before but knew of their great reputation for quality hosting and support. I've been blown away by the whole experience, from pre-sale questions to final launch. Excellent, across the board. Great support is important to me and I've been thrilled with my experiences with the WPE support. Sure, it's a little more money that other hosts, but you get what you pay for. If you need some hand holding like I do, you'll be grateful you're with WP Engine.
