What is Steel?
Steel gives an agent a cloud Chromium browser reached over a WebSocket endpoint, so existing Playwright, Puppeteer, Selenium or Chrome DevTools Protocol code runs unchanged once the local launch is swapped out. Profiles keep sign-ins between runs, sessions resume, and a person can take over mid-run to clear two-factor or a payment step. Each run returns page content, step traces, a recording, screenshots and PDFs. Steel Cloud is hosted, Steel Browser is the open-source build you run yourself, and Steel Outpost deploys into your own cloud. Plans are a monthly fee plus a published rate per browser hour.
