Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Lot of hype but very little substance

What do you like best? Sketch is super easy to learn. Its popularity rests on two pillars: 1. Widespread use of mac by certain segments of designers. 2. Current UI design trends. While Sketch itself is very cheap and affordable, Macs are not. If I were leading a team, I would be vary of adopting sketch for my business. It has some neat features that are better suited for UI design. For instance the ability to override the text inside a symbol. Some cool plugins to auto ...

Open Source, Great Community, UX & Dev Specific - Don't Plan On Leaving Anytime Soon

What do you like best? Sketch App does well exactly what it's built for; it is a wonderful, open source, tool for user experience designers to create lo-fi and hi-fi wireframes with. Experienced designers will find it has many familiar tools, barring the sometimes clutter of unused features going ignored in non-UX specific programs, like Adobe Photoshop. It also throws in some new and useful ones like the infinite artboard and symbols, which lets you make changes to assets globally just ...

Sketch in UX Design

What do you like best? Sketch has a smooth workflow and is overall very easy to learn. I started using the program just over a year ago and find it intuitive and a pleasure to use. Programs like Axure allow me to show exact interactions that will take place for a real user (ex: dropdowns, transitions What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Sketch allows easy ...

Everything you need, but with learning curve

What do you like best? It's a tool that is relatively simple to use, and you can accomplish pretty much anything. The app is super stable (i.e. never crashes even when working with big files (e.g. good resolution images and the exporting is to different formats is seamless. What do you dislike? Some basic features like cropping aren't available, so you have to use weird workarounds that are not obvious, and require doing research on the internet. However, I can always find the answers ...
