Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Best Program!

What do you like best? The user interface has been carefully selected to what you need at the time. What do you dislike? Can have issues with crashing. Also saving the files that are very large (with versioning can be very hard on your machine and take up a lot of space. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Web design comps for clients. It's the fastest way with the use of symbols and shortcuts!

Fast, Efficient, Elegant

What do you like best? I like how lightweight it is and how easy it is to use. What do you dislike? There are some idiosyncrasies with hot keys that I keep trying to use that don't work in Sketch but that work in Photoshop (not a big deal; I realize they're two different programs. Recommendations to others considering the product: I highly recommend using it instead of Photoshop. Photoshop was never meant to be a web design program; it has always been, first and foremost, an imaging ...

Sketch – Great for UI and UX

What do you like best? I love how the Sketch canvas shows all the sizes (pages for your design in one large overview. It makes aligning design from size to size much more efficient. What do you dislike? As someone who uses Adobe products day in and day out, I found that Sketch's placement of tools took a little getting use to. Recommendations to others considering the product: Definitely watch the tutorials, there are a lot of tricks that will help with using this program. What ...

My Current Favorite Program for Wireframing and Design

What do you like best? The artboards in this program are much more intuitive than Photoshop. After learning the shortcut keys for Sketch (which I felt there was a bit of a learning curve coming off of years of PS use I found them much easier than PS. I also love how easy it is to create symbols and updating my screens is a breeze when I utilize this. What do you dislike? I think that dealing with typography leaves a bit to be desired currently. Recommendations to others considering ...

Thoughts About Sketch

What do you like best? I love how simple it is to pick up. I taught myself how to use Sketch and became proficient in no time. Organizing your assets is easy and the color dropper tool is by far the best I have ever used. The files also do not take up as much space as a Photoshop file does. What do you dislike? I dislike that Sketch does not have its own cloud storage like Adobe does. Right now I am saving my files in a combination of Box and Invision App. It would be really ...

What do you like best? I love how sketch continuously improves since I've been using it for over a year. I love to I can connect to zeplin as well. What do you dislike? Just random bugs time to time. Also the need to update very frequently. What problems are you solving with the product? ...

Sketch Review

What do you like best? I love the simplicity and straightforward nature of Sketch, you don't need a degree to use it like some other software applications. What do you dislike? Not knowing where to start but once you get going it is very easy to use...so maybe a better startup/launch page. Recommendations to others considering the product: Just switch...they are nimble and release updates often. I think they are becoming the "gold standard" for front-end development. So much so ...

Wonderful for designing UI!

What do you like best? I honestly prefer Sketch to Photoshop for designing UI! It's much faster and streamlined than I'm used to. What do you dislike? There are some bugs, unfortunately, but those seem to be minimal in comparison to other products. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? It's much faster and easier to work on UI issues and vector graphics! I can see myself and my company using this program and gradually phasing out PS for ...

Best option for web design

What do you like best? Ease of use in general. Type styles are great; it's easy to assign H1-H6 headers and body styles, and change them throughout an entire website. Artboards and the 'Pages' function allow for easy site management. You can keep your wireframes, site architecture and visual design all in the same file, which is super helpful. Also, final file size is considerably smaller than every site I've designed in Photoshop. It feels so much more intuitive for web design than ...
