Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Low and High Detail Comps in Sketch

What do you like best? I used to use Photoshop to design and create web and mobile comps but it was painstaking since it wasn't made for comps. I love Sketch because it doesn't have all the unnecessary tools that Photoshop had that only clogged up my workflow. It's simple enough to learn and create quick comps, but also has the capability to create high detail mockups of your product. I also like that there is an integration for anything you could possibly need. What do you dislike? ...

Sketch is literally the best for UX

What do you like best? I love Sketch. Used it in college and did amazing on my project in my eyes because the program was so simple to use. What do you dislike? I wish there were more shortcuts for the product. Like in Adobe. Recommendations to others considering the product: Definitely take the tutorials. After taking that 2 hours it completely explains everything you need to know. Don't try to just wing it. Its really worth it to learn before hand. What problems are you solving ...

Amazing tool for web and mobile UI/UX work

What do you like best? Sketch was made for web and mobile UI/UX work — it's not bloated with unnecessary features like photoshop or illustrator is for this type of work. The fact that you can speed up your workflow with symbols and other third-party plug-ins is irreplaceable. You also don't have to subscribe to a monthly payment like other design software — most licenses get several updates, and you only pay to upgrade when big updates come through. Duplicating artwork and creating ...

Changed the way I work

What do you like best? I use this to create high fidelity mockups. Sketch is a lighter version of Adobe Illustrator, and that's just fine by me! It's all the basics any digital designer would want or need, none of the unnecessary features of Adobe. Easy to export artboards, unlimited working space. No need to create layers or add objects to them, they're made automatically. What do you dislike? Creating vector paths is something I'm still getting used to. Its just different from ...

Sketch is all I use

What do you like best? Allows for wire framing and designing any desktop design or iOS or Android device. And allows for many plug-ins. What do you dislike? Zoom in feature is annoying. There are a few easy ways to deal with it, but sometimes Sketch doesn't know that you want to zoom in on one artboard. Recommendations to others considering the product: Look into any possible shortcut that will help speed anything up! What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits ...

The easiest and most intuitive app for digital design (with added extensibility)

What do you like best? I absolutely LOVE that the keyboard shortcuts are intuitive and make sense. It's not completely illogical like Adobe (I mean, in what world does "rectangle" start with an "m"?. If I want a rectangle on Sketch, I just type an "r". Easy! I also love that there are plugins that I can add to increase functionality and automate some tasks. What do you dislike? Creating icons or vectors from scratch isn't as easy as in Illustrator. Recommendations to others ...

Simple, easy to use

What do you like best? Easy to start using, very low learning curve. Can start creating wireframes fairly easily. What do you dislike? To be a power user needs more learning/ tips and tricks. But investing time helps creating better wireframes easily. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Wireframes to visualize concepts before sharing with stakeholders.

What the industry needed

What do you like best? Sketch is a fantastic piece of software, it has everything that Photoshop has but so much more. It makes designing for the digital space a faster more focused process, giving you more time to work on UX. What do you dislike? Occasionally when working with a really large file, it can take a while to load. It could be a limitation of my hardware though and it doesn't add much time to the process. Recommendations to others considering the product: Well worth a ...
