Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Great UI/Prototyping Tool for new users

What do you like best? Simple interface with powerful tools. Ability to create and copy multiple screens and generate editable symbols that can reused throughout the project. Once I understood prototyping features by going to their help/support forum, it became an invaluable tool to send prototyping functionality to devs on my team. What do you dislike? Edit shapes/elements a bit confusing to understand. Some of the support documentation on certain features/tools/best practices was a ...

UX standard, but with bugs

What do you like best? Sketch is a well-featured standard for design. I use it every day when creating screens for prototypes. What do you dislike? Currently, the feature set available for clickable prototyping with Sketch is either very buggy, or lacking. I currently use the Craft plugin with Invision to create clickable prototypes, but the Craft plugin is very buggy and difficult to use. I haven't switched over to the built-in prototyping that Sketch has introduced because it is ...

Simple to use!

What do you like best? After having used Photoshop, Illustrator & Adobe XD, I have to say that Sketch is really the best tool for creating digital assets from web to mobile design. While you can still create the same designs using Photoshop, with Sketch all the tools that you're likely going to use is laid out in the open for the most part, no need to hunt for them inside a tab inside another tab inside another tab. I especially love the "fill" option for even .PNG images where I can ...

A major step up for UX/UI designers

What do you like best? Sketch is the software for digital designers who want to stop messing around with antiquated products. I made the switch to Sketch around a year an a half ago after designing websites in Photoshop for my entire design career. Styles, symbols, nested symbols, and libraries, make it easy to design and flexibly build new concepts. I was nervous at first, but it was easy to pickup in just a few weeks. The file sizes are way smaller than Photoshop, and I love using the ...

This is the ONLY design software I use.

What do you like best? It's jam-packed full of features and community plugins but doesn't feel bloated. I can get in, create cool things, and get out. What do you dislike? It makes me feel like I'm slacking. There are too many powerful features to learn in a short period of time. I know there's lots of stuff I'm missing. That, and it occasionally crashes when editing bitmaps. Recommendations to others considering the product: If you are currently using Adobe products to design ...

The preeminent software design tool

What do you like best? Sketch provides everything you need for static screen design and is integrated into all the best prototyping apps. What do you dislike? Occasionally buggy when file sizes grow too big. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We use sketch to mock-up and iterate the design of our mobile app.

Minimalistic Prototyping

What do you like best? The easy of use of the tool, its really really easy to use, very very intuitive, I have been worked in CorelDRAW to design web interfaces, mobile application and desktop applications. What do you dislike? Maybe the simplicity of the tool is the dislike that I have to mention it, sometimes we need more powerfull tools like Bezier Curves builder, or Mesh Flood Builder, sometimes we miss these tools. Recommendations to others considering the product: Well if your ...

Easy to use and very intuitive.

What do you like best? The ease of use is what makes this software shine. What do you dislike? I would like to see glyph support added. There is no easy way to use the glyphs in certain font's that I currently enjoy by using Illustrator. Recommendations to others considering the product: I would recommend this product purely on the ease of use and the syncing partnership it has with inVision. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? It ...

A designers dream application

What do you like best? I like the ease of use, how intuitive and smart it is to move between layers and controls. I also like the extensive selection of plugins available from the community. What do you dislike? There's been some challenges as they release new versions with backward compatibility. I'd also love if they had some type of built in solution for version controlling of design assets. Recommendations to others considering the product: Make sure you explore the available ...

Easy to adopt and use tool for digital design

What do you like best? Sketch has been incredibly easy to learn and adopt within my team. I like that there isn't a ton of hidden functionality, you can customize your toolbar and keyboard shortcuts, and with plugins you can handle everything from animation (Anima to developer handoffs (Zeplin What do you dislike? Sketch is not suited for print design and it's a drag to have to move back to Illustrator or Photoshop. There are some plug-ins and tricks to make print design projects ...
