Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Sketch: the easiest and high-functioning design tools for beginners and advanced designers alike

What do you like best? Everything. Sketch team is small but has been improving their product at a fast speed, taking in user feedback and making it easier to design by day. I've been using Sketch since the very first day I taught myself how to design, and the low learning curve, simplicity and intuitivity of the product is the best part, not to mention the integrations to plug-ins and great support. What do you dislike? Lack of interaction / animation design capability as well as team ...

User friendly and does what I need

What do you like best? I love that I am able to do every part of the design process in Sketch. I can wireframe and create prototypes and many iterations of those prototypes. I love that I can use Sketch for many different creative ventures and not just web design. What do you dislike? Sometimes the symbols feature in Sketch can get confusing, and you end up wasting more time trying to figure it out than the time it is supposed to save. What problems are you solving with the product? ...

The UXer essential

What do you like best? Where do I even start? As a ux design practioner, I use sketch everyday almost all day. It’s what I use to wireframe, design, and prototype. The tool keeps getting smarter. The shortcuts, plugin compatibility, symbols in a design system, and ability to link to invision are my favorite parts of sketch. I must not forget the conversion tool;uploading is made super easy. I move quickly in this program. What do you dislike? It doesn’t happen as much, but sketch used ...

Absolutely love this software!

What do you like best? My favorite thing about this software is almost everything! No joke. I like that is is build for web/mobile/modern graphic designers. Not only that but also enjoy that's very intuitive to use and it's built natively for mac so it works super smooth and fast. What do you dislike? I know this software is not made from print but there comes times when you need to design something that will be used for print such as stickers, business cards, etc. and I just wish I ...

Powerful program, great for screen-based design. Very flexible.

What do you like best? The ease of creating screen-based designs. The interface is great. The structure of the tools and the logic behind it makes a lot of sense. What do you dislike? The bridge between Invision and Sketch needs work. Prototyping is still iffy. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Rapid iterations with powerful design capabilities.

Excellent solution with lots of integrations

What do you like best? Ease of getting started is high, it's affordable and whole teams can use it to quickly prototype and ideate. It's solid and extensible. What do you dislike? Only MacOS, which limits its possible adoption. We would love to use it more widely, but people who are on PCs can edit the files. That's a big downside. Recommendations to others considering the product: Sketch is a great trendsetter, but it has been partly usurped by Figma. Figma is browser based and ...

Sketch is great for wireframes and layouts

What do you like best? It's very fast on my mac. The UI is very intuitive and the features are improved and not just removed for no reason. What do you dislike? It's not good for raster images and the vector tools are limited. Recommendations to others considering the product: It's cheap and easy to use. If it works for you in lieu of Photoshop, consider yourself lucky What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? wireframes, mood boards, web ...

My absolute go-to for all things interface design

What do you like best? Symbols. Once you get the hang of the features that enable resizing how you need, this tool saves time in a massive way. I'm able to work with developers and stakeholders and put something together in a hurry. Its extensibility with plugins makes almost any need accessible. What do you dislike? Requires 3rd party company integration tools for animations and transitions. While these tools are great, I wish there was 'more' in the way we can interact with items so ...
