Sitefinity as a developer platform

What do you like best? Sitefinity provides excellent progammability in addition to killer content management features. Building feather widgets for reuse in a variety of pages and sites is really powerful. What do you dislike? Slow startup makes frequent edits to code take longer. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We used it to provide non technical users the ability to assemble functionality on templates and pages from built in ...

SiteFinity CMS review

What do you like best? For our company, the ease to upload and update documents linked on our site is fantastic. Our documents change a lot, and this makes managing them very simple. What do you dislike? I am not a fan of the inability to easily find and replace site content. The CMS stores all of the data in a database, so replacing specific lines of text is a chore to say the least. We also have multiple environments, and our content links are specific to each environment (such as QA to ...

Great product but be careful who you select to develop!

What do you like best? Sitefinity is very user-friendly! And their knowledge base/support are second to none. What do you dislike? Anyone can say they know how to develop a site in Sitefinity, but only the true Progress sponsors should be considered. Recommendations to others considering the product Be sure to vet your developers. Progress has approved, recommended partners that really know what they're doing. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have ...

What do you dislike? Finding the correct implementation partner might be hard. Sitefinity allows ...

Difficult to customize widget behavior

What do you like best? The ability to see what the pages look like as you are building them. What do you dislike? The widget designers are built on angularJS, which is outdated. The way it is implemented makes creating custom widgets a challenge. Also, cannot extend existing widgets without copy and pasting from Sitefinity repos. Recommendations to others considering the product If you want something out of the box, then this is it. If you want to create custom widgets with complex ...

Endless Headaches

What do you like best? We really like the ability to have multiple nested page templates that can be overridden and inherit from each other. This allows us to manage the large retail websites we maintain for US state specific products. What do you dislike? Creating custom widget designers in AngularJS is downright awful. They will all have to be completely rewritten using Angular - whenever Progress/Sitefinity adds support for it. There is no way to control the routing mechanisms to ...

Like building in the CMS but many quirks and Developers hate it

What do you like best? Building pages with drag and drop functionality What do you dislike? The ability to extend out-of-the-box widgets isn't possible. Developers have to do everything custom because out-of-the-box widgets are very limited. Example you can't add multiple buttons to the Card widget so we had to build a custom widget for that. The problem with customer widgets is that they are built in AngularJS with is an outdated technology so these custom widgets will have to be rebuilt ...
