Microsoft Purview combines data governance, security and compliance across on-premises, multicloud and SaaS estates. Governance includes a unified data catalog, data lifecycle management, eDiscovery and audit logging; security covers data security posture management, information protection, data loss prevention and insider risk management; compliance adds Compliance Manager with regulatory templates and communication compliance. It is licensed either through the Purview Suite on user-based pricing requiring Microsoft 365 E3, or pay-as-you-go via Azure for data estate, analytics and AI workloads.
