Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Does the job you expect, however, has some areas to improve."

What do you like best about Loom? - Easy to use and learn features - Easy to share with others that may not be as tech savvy - Tracking the engagement and views is great - Cross functionality with desktop and mobile is great! What do you dislike about Loom? - Glitchy and slow often times - Does not allow an option to efficently restart a recording (that I am aware of) - Does not allow an option to rewind a few seconds if you misspeak while recording...instead you have to rerecord the entire ...

"Async Client Training"

What do you like best about Loom? I love how easy it is to create and share videos. As a CSM at a fast-paced startup, Loom saves me so much time because I can train new users and share new features with clients asynchronously. What do you dislike about Loom? There's nothing I dislike about Loom. I've only had great experiences with it. I know that there are best practice tutorials that I should take advantage of. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Loom helps me ...

"Great app for easy recordings, screen shares, and editing!"

What do you like best about Loom? I like that I can choose from full screen recordings to being in the lower circle of a screen. Also how you can choose which screen to record on. Editing is easy as well. What do you dislike about Loom? When you want to share the whole screen and voice recording but not your face, I wish there was a button to stop recording instead of closing the page. (There may be already? But I haven't figured it out) Once and a while with a lot of editing, it won't ...

"Easy way to record"

What do you like best about Loom? With the recent addition of loom for chrome, it makes it super easy to record something quickly instead of a meeting. And the extension reminds me it's an option What do you dislike about Loom? I wish you could default to camera off, and also quickly control your sound preferences What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Trying to communicate across time zones isn't easy, and trying to type up all the details can be daunting. Loom makes ...

"Easy to use tool for quick video turnaround"

What do you like best about Loom? I love the ability to take a screen capture using the chrome browser extension. The ease of export/sharing is also great for quick internal communications. What do you dislike about Loom? When editing a video, there tends to be a bit of a wait time before you can chop and remove segments. I would say the editing tools overall are a bit clunky. It would be great to be able to move sections of a screen capture around more easily. What problems is Loom solving ...

"Super easy if you have all your in-browser settings set up correctly"

What do you like best about Loom? Incredibly easy to create a recording and use audio to explain to the use what they're seeing. Love that you can also speed up the final video before sending it out. What do you dislike about Loom? If you reject a needed permission in Google Chrome even just once, it becomes a nightmare to turn it back on. I accidentally disabled camera for Chrome, and even after I changed the settings I had to update my browser and loom to be able to get Loom to work ...

"Quick, seamless product demos and explainers"

What do you like best about Loom? I love how aesthetically pleasing videos look in Loom. I feel confident that if I share a video with a client or customer, they're seeing the best view of our products. What do you dislike about Loom? I think the flow for selecting a screen to record could be better. When making mistakes during a prerecorded call, I often have to try 10-15 times to get it right. Having saved preselection of certain tabs would save me a lot of time! What problems is Loom ...

"Meetings are not always necessary, just send a Loom instead!"

What do you like best about Loom? Instead of writing down my ideas, set up a meeting and talk to people, I record a Loom, send, and wait for feedback. It's that easy What do you dislike about Loom? It fully depends on your internet connection, y the connections drops or loses strength, your video might be compromised What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? I can share my ideas as soon as I get them, I don't have to wait for a meeting or call someone.
