Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Cut my meeting times in half"

What do you like best about Loom? The ability to share my thoughts across different working hours, without having to create meetings- I work in an international team and we only have 3 hours a day of crossover time What do you dislike about Loom? The editing tools could be more intuitive-hard to trim mid video and I usually resort to re-recording looms as that is easier than using the editing tools. Would also love the ability to speed up or slow down depending on points in the video What ...

"Fantastic tool to create and share 'how-to' videos"

What do you like best about Loom? It's really easy to use. Instead of hopping onto a video call + screeshare to explain how to do something, I will first create a Loom video and upload it to our company workspace, so it can be viewed again and again. Invaluable in training and onboarding. What do you dislike about Loom? No real dislikes. I've not used it much on iOS yet, as I usually use the iPhone's screen recording, but I probably should start switching to Loom... The new AI feature is ...

"Loom is really great to use as a substitute for in-person meetings"

What do you like best about Loom? I like being able to record updates for my clients and not having to set up dates every month to have a conversation about progress updates. We live in a busy world and they couldn't imagine having to get on a call with every one of my clients to discuss updates. With loom, I'm able to share my screen and show them exactly what has been going on in the past month which is really helpful all around. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes there are bugs ...

"Loom makes async communication in a digital world possible"

What do you like best about Loom? I can record my screen, share with colleagues via link, and receive feedback all in the same place What do you dislike about Loom? Pricing is per seat for the core users, and free users are limited to 25 videos (at this time). I also find it challenging to sort and organize videos for later use. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? I manage most of our internal organizational systems and record training videos when team members have ...

"Most effective way to relay information quickly"

What do you like best about Loom? I enjoy being able to quickly clarify something that is usually visual in nature with our industry in signage and branding to either a client or our designers that isn't always as clear even with a detailed bullet list or phone call. What do you dislike about Loom? I'm not sure I ever thought about dislikes because I use it so much but haven't run across a dislike yet I can recall. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Visual design ...
