Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Quickly explain thoughts & projects!"

What do you like best about Loom? I work with a lot of cross-functional teams that are across time zones. Given it's hard (and expensive) to find sync time, I rely on Loom to send over ideas, questions, and project launches. The benefit is not only working in an async fashion, but I also get to show my screen and walk through the actual assets. What do you dislike about Loom? At times the Loom chrome login will randomly stop working. It will cut off in the middle of me recording a Loom or ...

"Loom is a game changer!"

What do you like best about Loom? I absolutely love how easy Loom is to use. It's a natural part of my everyday workflow and truly allows me to spend less time meeting with clients and more time making progress What do you dislike about Loom? Loom can be a bit glitchy at times, especially the desktop application on Macs. Now, I only use the chrome extension and I'd say that most of the time it works well! What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? I'm a web-designer, so ...

Sometimes it can be cumbersome to find a library of videos or to send people to more than one video. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? It is saving a ton of time with repeatable in-person training sessions that we turned into a video library.

"Works great for our team!"

What do you like best about Loom? The most helpful part is quickly being able to record a video of a scenario in our software to be able to send to a client or developer. I also really enjoy being able to send a link with a specific time stamp so that I can highlight the problem area. What do you dislike about Loom? I find that I typically have to sign in more than I feel like I need to. I have the desktop extension, and I don't think that I should have to login that often, but seems like I ...

"Quick and easy way to train"

What do you like best about Loom? The tool is simple and very user friendly. It works perfectly for employees that need to send video recordings to other team members or users of your software so that they can train and show best practices. What do you dislike about Loom? Constantly having to adjust between "screen only" and "screen+camera". There should be a default option for screen only and vice versa. Also, there should be a notification if the voice is not recording. What problems is ...

"Excellent training resource for all business types!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is very easy to utilize and serves as a powerful tool to develop training materials for staff and public, regardless of the type or organization. Automated time markers, visual tools, flexibility in screen operations, video capabilities, etc. all work well and with ease. What do you dislike about Loom? Would like to see some more investments in visual tools to accompany video -- more highlighting/selection tools, calculator integration, etc. What ...

"My Go To System For A Better Support System and Walkthrough Videos"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is incredibly simple to start using for any user. The ability for me to swap between desktop, laptop, or phone to make screen captured videos makes my work life significantly easier. Knowing if and when someone has watched my video is also extremely helpful from a tracking perspective as well. I don't see how I replace Loom for my daily workflow at this point. What do you dislike about Loom? The one feature I would like to see added is a native writing ...

"Great video sharing product!"

What do you like best about Loom? Super easy to use and share the videos with others What do you dislike about Loom? The video editing features are a bit tricky and hard to navigate - I'd rather restart a video than have to edit. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Use Loom to do video reviews of student submissions in order to visualize better and explain where they need to improve - this has helped them much more then written feedback. Also use it for video ...
