Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Easy to use, great to share quick videos"

What do you like best about Loom? Super useful for showing quick videos to help clients, but also internally for quick training videos as well as to help explain certain requests and/or issues to developers and include on DevOps tickets. It's VERY simple to use, so it was easy to get a lot of our coworkers to start using it, which helped a ton. What do you dislike about Loom? Sometimes issues are difficult to deal with. For example, it'll try to start recording, but sometimes it'll just ...

"Experience has been good so far."

What do you like best about Loom? Easy and intuitive features that can be used readily even for novices. Helpful in terms of conveying your message/instructions to the recipients/viewers of the instructional videos. What do you dislike about Loom? Encountered a recording error that cannot be retrived. Though I can re-do everything but it would be a lot hasstle for those who has longer recordings and left with an unrecorded video. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting ...

"Using Loom saves me time and frustration!"

What do you like best about Loom? I love using Loom during my troubleshooting processes with clients. It allows me to save time instead of annoying back-and-forth emails. I can show the client the exact steps to get something fixed and it allows me to show off my personality! What do you dislike about Loom? I can't really come up with any reasons to not use Loom! I recommend it to everyone I know who also works in Customer Experience! It's super handy to have it in my browser and be able to ...

"Great for being able to give clients personal attention, but on my schedule"

What do you like best about Loom? When I need to share detailed information with clients, it's much quicker to share my screen and talk about it than it is to type an email. and Loom lets me do that asynchronously rather than having to schedule a mutual time for a conference call. What do you dislike about Loom? Occasional minor glitches in the recording software, but usually nothing that a restart doesn't fix. The few times I've needed them, support has been very helpful. What problems is ...

"Loom is Super Helpful For Sharing Tutorials with the Team"

What do you like best about Loom? I work at a startup and we often use Loom to help train new hires (showing them how to use new software), sharing bugs with out development team, and sometimes even helping new clients/less tech savy clients navigate our software. What do you dislike about Loom? I like most of Loom's features, the one thing I dislike is the 5 minute limit (maybe this is fixed if you upgrade) but sometimes I just have more to say then I can fit in 5 minutes. What problems is ...

"Loom for the win!"

What do you like best about Loom? It is highly effective for my role as a director of operations, my role is repetitive and while my role is important, it allows me to record guidelines, steps to our contracts and reach several people at one time. What do you dislike about Loom? Not being able to share this with the team at the expense of continued upgrades, but is sitll doable. Perhaps have a limited team where the team can still record/or use but within limitations. What problems is Loom ...

"Convenient & Useful"

What do you like best about Loom? I love the extension capability within Chrome. Makes it easier than having to sign into the web app and then launch. What do you dislike about Loom? It's not as user friendly as it could be. I'm often having to conduct training on how to use it for the non-techy people. I'm honestly not sure how much easier it could get, but maybe keeping in mind those that are not as techy? What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? I'm able to quickly ...

What do you like best about Loom? The ease through which we can record and provide insights for investors, onboarding, engineers for new features, product managers for new tickets, and so much more. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing currently. I'm not sure if I could just make something up, but I really appreciate the platform. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Software engineering - creating screenflows for showing engineers what features to build. Product ...

"Easy to use, time saving screen recording software"

What do you like best about Loom? The integrated native app is extremely useful for an easy way to start a screen recording without having to go to a website. The automated transcriptions are also extremely clear and useful. What do you dislike about Loom? In some cases it was difficult to get the native desktop version to record without losing the recording. Selecting which screen to record could be improved in the desktop app. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting ...

"Makes asynchronous work fun!"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is so easy to use and customize. I love that I can send updates to my team across time zones in a really personal way. What do you dislike about Loom? There really isn't much that I'd want to change about Loom. I find it so easy to use and it has all the features that I want available. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Our team is split up across many time zones. When I'm trying to help the team build a report, ...
