Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Loom is an amazing tool for students, businesses, even technology-challenged seniors!"

What do you like best about Loom? I recommend Loom to everyone. It's a great tool and the free version is great for small businesses and students on tight budgets. Even the subscription version is a great price for small businesses like mine that need the additional features. Tech support is very responsive, too. It's user-friendly for both the customer and their constituents. What do you dislike about Loom? I haven't discovered any downside to Loom. What problems is Loom solving and how is ...

"Simple, efficient way to share complex info async"

What do you like best about Loom? It's just easy. The controls work well, the video processes fast, and editing is a breeze. Share the link in Slack and you've just saved yourself another painful meeting with a bunch of people who didn't have a change to digest the info before hand. Zoom has launched a competitor in beta called Clips. It's slow and not quite as good. I'm sure they'll get better, but it'll take a while to play catch up with Loom. What do you dislike about Loom? I wish it ...

"Perfect screen recording app"

What do you like best about Loom? It just works. It does exactly what you want from it and has the benefit of AI if you need. I have recommended it to everyone in my company, as it is sometimes easier to record a quick video with voice over (or not) to explain what you have issues with to IT helpdesk to showcasing results that can't be done on a presentation ie. flicking between screens. Which ultimately reduces the amount of presentations that need made. It also is great how you can see ...

"Good resource for anyone needing screen and video recording"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom has a generous free version that allows for up to five minutes of recording per clip. The same version also lets you store up to 25 videos in your account. Not bad at all. Another nice feature is that Loom has a Chome extension that makes things much more manageable. I myself use the Brave browser, which works off of the Chrome system. Loom functions well with this browser too. What do you dislike about Loom? The interface can be a bit confusing. You ...

"Game Changing Communication Upgrade"

What do you like best about Loom? The seamless interactive way to share and communicate via video rather than long drawn out texts, emails, or reports which completely changes the effectiveness of how you communicate on a regular basis. What do you dislike about Loom? AI integration is new and a bit flawed in its provided information. Overtime it could be something that will revolutionize every word we speak in video in ways that we currently can't imagine. What problems is Loom solving and ...

"Easy tool to record yourself and your screen"

What do you like best about Loom? Loom is easy to use and navigate. We use this often for educational videos for our Customer Success team. It is easy to record yourself as well as your screen. It is a great visual tool. What do you dislike about Loom? The only thing I do not like is you cannot have a background like you can have in Zoom. You can have a background for your computer or desktop screen but not for your actual physical background. What problems is Loom solving and how is that ...

"An Invaluable Tool I Didn't Know I Needed"

What do you like best about Loom? There is little to no learning curve and videos can be made quickly. Therefore making "how to" videos for my customers does not disrupt my day to day work. For me Loom is an invaluble tool I didn't know I needed. What do you dislike about Loom? I always forget to move the video controls (stop, pause, confedete, ect) off the screen before I start recording. If there was an auto hide, that would be great. What problems is Loom solving and how is that ...
