Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Loom has completely transformed the way I communicate with my team and clients. Instead of scheduling back-to-back meetings, I can now record concise, engaging video messages that my colleagues can watch on their own time. The ability to share my screen while adding narration and visual cues has been a game changer for clarity and productivity. I particularly ...Read more

Loom pros and cons

  • Loom is widely appreciated for its user-friendly interface that allows professionals to quickly record and share videos without technical barriers. Its Chrome extension, desktop, and mobile apps make screen and camera recording accessible from any device.

  • By enabling asynchronous video messaging, Loom helps organizations reduce the need for lengthy meetings, streamlining communication and boosting productivity across remote and hybrid teams.

  • Users benefit from Loom’s intuitive editor, which allows trimming, stitching, and adding visual elements like arrows, text, and overlays, resulting in more polished and engaging content.

  • The platform enhances engagement with built-in features such as emojis, comments, transcripts, and closed captions in over 50 languages, making global collaboration easier.

  • Since Loom is designed primarily for asynchronous communication, it lacks robust real-time collaboration features compared to platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

  • Free accounts often face restrictions on video length, storage, and advanced features, which may require teams to upgrade for more comprehensive use.

"Perfect for neurodivergent processing styles"

What do you like best about Loom? LOVE using Loom for clients and for VA, freelancers etc. It takes me so much less time and brain energy to create a quick video sharing my process or supporting a client with a private message. Honestly can't imagine working without it. I use it at least 2 times a day, often more at the start of a program when people are settling in. It's so easy for anyone to use and connects nicely with my other apps. What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing so far. The ...

"Great product"

What do you like best about Loom? I love that it's very easy to make video messages-- really helpful for almost any need. Working with clients, sending to people I want to connect with, etc. Great overall! What do you dislike about Loom? My least favorite part about Loom isn't really a problem with it itself, but rather that I would love if it had a built in teleprompter service. I had times where I was doing scripted video with Loom and it would be really helpful if it had functionality ...

"A dissappointment"

What do you like best about Loom? I like that Loom offers AI features that make it easier to title and transcript videos. The convinence of sharing videos in a cloud workspace is nice as well. What do you dislike about Loom? The Loom desktop app constantly crashes. This is a problem after multiple updates. The Loom Chrome extension only works in Chrome (so if you prefer Firefox forget it), is cumbersome once you need to do more than just a simple video, and for whatever reason can not ...

"Pleasantly Surprised"

What do you like best about Loom? Easy to use and there is a ton of "help" videos to walk you through. Great way to present an idea and I love how it speeds up the VO and can also remove your "ums and ahs". What do you dislike about Loom? Nothing at all. It was easy to administer and integrate. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? For those too busy for a meeting this is a great way to introduce yourself and your product/service.

"A great video tool with so many uses"

What do you like best about Loom? You can save so much time in your communications by making videos and easily sending them to colleagues and clients for review. Things that are difficult to put into written words or could be easily misunderstood can be explained in video, and you can share any part of your screen to ensure there is no room for error. You can even exchange comments at certain points within the video. It is also easy to embed videos in websites and other tools, such as ...

"An absolutely required tool"

What do you like best about Loom? It's exceptionally easy to use and is always improving. The new AI tools are really convenient. I find myself using this all the time, for async updates and questions, notes and education, and for personal messages. What do you dislike about Loom? The browser plugin is a bit less convenient than going full desktop but they offer both so it's not an actual issue What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? Async communication - working with ...

"Loom is very user friendly BUT"

What do you like best about Loom? I liked the summary and the audio options that showed what I think one would get with an AI subscription, What do you dislike about Loom? It was not clear to me at the onset that the AI features came with my free trial period and by the time I figured that out, I had little time to use them effectively. What problems is Loom solving and how is that benefiting you? It was a great way to make short videos introducing our new website and its features if you ...
