Data Modeling made easy
What do you like best? I love how easy it is to model new data. With other software, there are complications to introducing new tables/datasets, but with LookML, it's really easy to define your data model and create explores off of it. What do you dislike? We've had platform issues with committing new changes with Github. LookML validation doesn't work very well - it gets pretty buggy and can often be hard to understand what's wrong. I use Liquid a lot in my code and it can be pretty ...

Love it!
What do you like best? After using a different solution in the past 3 years, switching to looker was a great change. Looker enables me as an analyst much more flexibility in my job such as adding new fields from the data source, where in the past I had to wait for the BI team to do that. What do you dislike? I am missing many visualization options such as placing a filter per tile instead of having all filters at the top (it gets confusing for the end user in case a filter is not ...

Easy to learn and expand knowledge
What do you like best? The way that the final dashboards look are so nice and useful. I also really love the explores and field pickers. I like being able to check the sql of the explores to ensure that it's doing what I want. What do you dislike? Sometimes with what doesn't seem like too many calculations or rows of data the browser hangs and takes a while. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? At this early stage, we're relieving a ...

Unfortunately Looker does not offer that functionality. Also the validator could have additional error responses for further clarity. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Generating visualization dashboards for our clients who are provider/surgeons and care teams in the ...

BI as a platform
What do you like best? I like that it's a platform with an extensive API What do you dislike? Tenancy for group/role permissions across a large organization. Requires our small team to go above and beyond with third party tooling. Recommendations to others considering the product: Learn the API, and plan our your permissions structure beforehand. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Permissions, automation of tasks that are slow via ...

Looker for analytics team
What do you like best? I love how easy it is to use the explores to select the dimensions and measures I want to look at and create Looks from them What do you dislike? Coming from a Tableau user, it was a steep learning curve to learn how to write LookML. I wish there's an easier way to create views using SQL code only, and not having to create separate dimensions and measures afterwards. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Product ...
