LaunchDarkly pros and cons

  • Reviewers value how easy it is to create feature flags and consume them on front-end and back-end via the SDK.

  • It separates deployment from release, enabling safe, risk-free rollouts without redeploying.

  • Percentage rollouts, targeted users, and regional controls give fine-grained release control.

  • Reliable and flexible, it integrates well with DevOps tools and workflows like Slack.

  • Several reviewers find per-user pricing strict and note code scanning isn't free.

  • Some report the UI can make it hard to find certain settings or copy rules across environments.

"User Improvements at some developer expense"

What do you like best about LaunchDarkly? LaunchDarkly makes it much easier to deliver production-ready code without getting every feature through testing before merging to the main branch. It also allows us to selectively toggle features for specific users. What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly? Cleaning up feature flags can be cumbersome. Removing a feature flag (once it is no longer needed) is time-consuming and usually requires consultation with the original author. Feature flags tend ...

For new releases on production, we can disable if something goes bad. Also early access to some clients

"First Class Developer Experience"

What do you like best about LaunchDarkly? It's literally the easiest platform ever to get up and running. Multiple SDKs for every platform you would like. Real time flag changes with no-latency in client applications. I can't see any reason why anyone would want to handroll feature flags ever again. What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?
