What do you like best? Familiar panels for layers, brushes, tools, paths and many others. Individual tabs can be booted (although it requires using a command in the palette menu instead of Adobe's most intuitive action, so you can adjust GIMP UI almost as much as Photoshop can. The Tools menu brings together a mixed bag of the same tools that are in the Toolbox, in addition to some tools that Adobe puts in the Image menu, such as Cut. What do you like best? GIMP is capable of completing your basic design needs with ease. What do you dislike? It doesn't go to the extent of Photoshop.
