A great free alternative to Adobe Photoshop
What do you like best? GIMP is simple to use and easy to learn. The controls are simple and intuitive. Tools are grouped into useful dropdown bars, and I find the interface much easier to understand than Photoshop. What do you dislike? GIMP isn't quite as powerful as Photoshop, and has a limited filter option. When I'm editing pictures of humans, I use Photoshop's Liquify tool to tweak faces, and then return to GIMP for the rest of the editing. Recommendations to others considering the ...

My experience has been great, but there are still features of GIMP I have yet to learn and use.
What do you like best? I love the grid feature. I do a lot of hyper realistic art, so when I’m trying to make sure my drawings and proportions are perfect on paper, I can use the grid on GIMP to show me the exact points and proportions on the screen. What do you dislike? I dislike the amout of time it sometimes takes to open/load the new app. Recommendations to others considering the product Take your time and try experimenting with all the different features! What business problems are ...

Good alternative design program.
What do you like best? Gimp is a very straightforward design program. I like how the tools are laid out. The tools include many different tools that can be found on other more advanced design software. The filters look really nice and there is a large selection to choose from. You can also customize your own filter and save them. I also like how the software is compatible with many different types of files. What do you dislike? I do not like the layout of Gimp. I can be very hard to ...

Good for basic design tasks
What do you like best? It has all the basic tools and there are loads of tutorials on YouTube so it's easy to get up to speed. It's a great tool for startups because it's free. What do you dislike? Generally people are less familiar with GIMP compared to Photoshop so it's a learning curve for everyone in your organisation as they get up to speed and learn the tool. If you need something done quickly, chances are, someone in your organisation will know Photoshop and can just get on with ...
