Great for starting, weak on moving to intermediate

While Duolingo is great for learning the basics, it’s value diminishes as you advance. It’s very rigid with certain words in its vocabulary universe, often rejecting perfectly accurate synonyms. It’s as if you’re working with an artificial subset of the language rather than the language itself; training wheels are great when you’re learning how to ride a bike but at some point in the process they have to come off. It’s totally arbitrary in its assignment of gender, e.g English words like ...

You have to realize that none of these programs will make you fluent which is what everybody wants in one program. Even Duolingo say " what is fluency"? Well we all know. What did shock me was that the app was totally different to the main desktop program, the latter of which I have stuck with. There was no point in going with a totally program. In reality to be successful you need at least five hours per day. Forget a little every day unless you want to be here for twenty years. It is ...
