CircleCI pros and cons

  • Provides a user-friendly interface with unique features like insights for workflows, job branches, and commit history.

  • Free tier includes substantial credits, easy to integrate into projects, and allows SSH to resolve issues directly in the build machine.

  • Offers easy interface for pipeline creation using YAML files, facilitating automation and progress tracking.

  • Excellent documentation and ease of integration with other technologies for users transitioning from DevOps/Sysadmin roles.

  • Audit features are not as robust as other enterprise-grade providers, and some users found the setup to be complex initially.

Well supported platform for iOS CI

What do you like best? Circle CI has good support for iOS builds using Xcode tools, which is really handy. It integrates well with Fastlane and BitBucket, and it has detailed documentation. What do you dislike? More complicated build processes, using multiple parallel processes, was difficult for us to do. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We are using CircleCI to run tests for our iOS builds.

Efficient, parallel continuous integration services

What do you like best? CircleCI runs multiple, chained CI pipelines for our projects, reporting back at each step. Running code coverage as well makes it easy to keep our systems current and deploy immediately. What do you dislike? The lack of proper namespacing makes us a tiny bit uncomfortable with deployments. Anyone with the ability to configure or run a job can extract potentially sensitive credentials from the system. What problems are you solving with the product? What ...

Good continuous deployment monitor/tool

What do you like best? I like the layout, UI, color scheme, and general look of the application What do you dislike? Builds not updating live (from running to success) What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Like the link with Github, very useful

generally good, but Docker support can be better

What do you like best? Clean experience with everything defined in a file. Everything is based on Docker. What do you dislike? Not the best Docker support: no layer caching. Workflows are not really useful because they don't share Docker images between them, and pushing/pulling them from the registry will consume a lot of time, which grows with the size of the image. The builds are sometimes slow. The new pricing makes it unusable, so we'll have to move to something else, ...

Enterprise needs work

What do you like best? Smooth interface, one of the slickest out there. What do you dislike? Enterprise install is not polished and really could use a conversion to K8s or Fargate. Recommendations to others considering the product: Smoothest CICD for users, admin is still rough around edges. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Smooth easy CICD

Fantastic, revolutionary service which promotes all the development community stands for

What do you like best? CircleCI allows a user to leverage the whole product on their personal projects to help bootstrap them Once the ground has been established and you recognise the instant value moving to a paid plan is seamless and inexpensive compared to hosting on site deployments of legacy solutions like Jenkins or GoCD What do you dislike? Remote docker instance is overly complicated (willing to expand further on a call) Sharing of keys is painful (contexts work but ...

Great tool to manage a comlicated test and release process.

What do you like best? Ability to run test on commits and merges automatically. The ability to view the test artifacts as well as run tests with SSH enabled for debugging was been really valuable as well. Being able to test and release code to multiple platforms and hosting providers has been a great help allowing to keep the process the same throughout the different workflows. What do you dislike? Some of the settings are somewhat difficult to find since it's not something we ...
