Bitly is a SCAM

In need of a QR code to direct people for my mother's memorial, I Googled 'free QR code generator' and this this service was the first to pop up. I navigated the information as best as I could through the mental haze of grief and created a QR code knowing I was using a trial, thinking I could subscribe to a monthly service for June to make it through the event. Unfortunately, when I clicked through the payment windows, and due to the highly deceptive and predatory marketing and design ...

I basically had to cancel my credit…

I basically had to cancel my credit card to get them to stop charging me. They are one of these companies that makes it as hard as possible to cancel once you've started a subscription... no phone number and wont respond to emails.

Bait and switch company with awful Support - Avoid

I purchased because they offer custom domains resistered through them. There was some kind of technical issue choosing the domain on Bitly and after a couple of days of fobbing me off with irrelevant boilerplate emails, they've told me they can't do anything about it. I can see the domain I selected has been registered by Bitly, too. Avoid this company.

Don't trust Bitly's QR Service

Don't trust Bitly's QR service. They show you a monthly subscription price and then charge you for a year - no warning or advertising.

Infested with short links to adult sites.

For many years we have gotten our inboxes full of bitly links containing adult sites. Bitly has been advised of this many times, but obviously never answered nor acted on any of our reports. I have to suspect that bitly profits hugely from unsolicited advertisers and junk mailers.
