Spotsaas Editor’s POV
Backblaze is an affordable cloud backup service built for individual users and small teams who need automatic, hands-off file protection. The core strength is its unlimited storage capacity at a fixed annual price—no per-gigabyte overage charges. Automatic backups run continuously in the background, and files are encrypted with a private key you control. File ...Read more

Good basic backup solution
What do you like best? It was quick and easy to set up for someone in a non-IT based role, with little knowledge of the Backblaze interface. I was able to to mirror a server as a backup, and start uploading data to the cloud within an hour. What do you dislike? If using Backblaze with an Apple system, you have a backup of your files but you cant restore from a disk image in the same way you would using Apple's Time Machine. Recommendations to others considering the product It's a great ...

Helpful, simple and effective system
PROS & CONS What are the best aspects of this product? Setting up BackBlaze is very simple, it allows me to select drives and files. I love the control panel feature, it provides me with information of how much I have backed up and it provides me with assurance that my files are save. I can keep private key encryption on the uploaded files. It doesn’t have lot of costs for thumb drives and hard drives and it has simple download and restore system. It allows me to do full restore quickly. ...

I'm very satisfied with this product
PROS & CONS What are the best aspects of this product? BlackBaze is so simple, it works on “click-and-install” solution. Its tech support is great and the software doesn’t have any kind of issues or bugs. I love their unlimited backup. You could add on subscriptions and they will pro-rate and keep all of the subscriptions. What aspects are problematic or could work better? Whenever I connect external drives to the systems drives are automatically added, and I receive emails that for ...

I love this product
PROS & CONS What are the best aspects of this product? Upload your file and forget about it. $5 monthly and you have more than 3TB backed up of the files that are extremely large (image sequences, 300GB ProRes exports I’m able to use the whole upstream connection so I can know that the upload is fast. What aspects are problematic or could work better? I would like to back up some network shares or to have some other way in order to back up some huge data. It takes 80 days in order to ...

I used the service for over a year and …
I used the service for over a year and it initially worked well. Then I got a message from the program that my backup was stopped and that I needed to delete it and restart or my account would be canceled. Then I received a message my account was no longer active so I did nothing because I didn't want to use it. Come to find out I was still being charged for services I was not using despite the messages that my account was not active. When I contacted them they refused to talk to me on the ...

Has great features that competitors lack
What do you like best? There are many online backup solutions, but Backblaze has five advantages: 1 Allows for personal encryption keys You can set a personal key (password on your back-up which means no one (not even Backblaze can see it. I have nothing to hide, but you never know when some hacker could break into Backblaze and steal your files. Because of the personal key, any stolen data will be useless. 2 Cheaper monthly fee Backblaze is nearly $5 a cheaper month than the ...

I recommend Backblaze on a daily basis
What do you like best? Ease of use, peace of mind, and low low price. What do you dislike? The restore process can sometimes feel a little clunky and slow, especially if you are restoring ALL of your files, not just a few. Recommendations to others considering the product I recommend Backblaze to EVERYONE I know: colleagues, friends, and family. It's a no-brainer! What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I like to have all of my files in ...

Avoid Back-Blaze at all cost
Avoid Back-Blaze at all cost, when you need them they will not be there for you.I have used back blaze for over a year now, and have found them to be a horrible mistake. The one time I need their service fail to work right. I lost 10 years worth of documents when my internal hard-drive failed. At first I thought all would be well, because I have back-blaze, but they said their was nothing they could do. They claimed that my "internal hard-drive" had been disconnected from their service for ...

Excellent backup that stays out of the way
What do you like best? I love that it runs in the background and is always up to date. I honestly forget that it's installed on my machine sometimes because it is so out of the way. The easy to use menu bar applet provides quick access to settings and to see what I have backed up and what still needs to be backed up. What do you dislike? I honestly can't think of anything that Backblaze needs to change. It is hands down the best cloud based backup solution that I have found. ...

Reliable and trusted
What do you like best? I've been using it for a few years now as a passive backup option. It'll continuously backup any changes, meaning I'm always prepared for when something goes wrong. What do you dislike? - Costs per computer, monthly (or annually - Schedule is relatively simple - would love to make exclusion times, during which it should never try to backup automatically. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Passive backup
