What does 'SOC 2 Compliance' mean?
SOC 2 is an audit report, issued by an independent accounting firm, on how a service organisation handles customer data against criteria covering security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. Type I assesses controls at a point in time; Type II tests whether they operated effectively over a period, commonly three to twelve months. Buyers ask for it as evidence that a vendor's security practices have been examined by someone other than the vendor.
