What is Session Management?

What does 'Session Management' mean?

Controlling how a user's authenticated session is created, tracked and ended, including token issuance, cookie handling, timeouts and forced logout. From a security perspective it defends against attacks that steal or forge a session, such as session hijacking and fixation, by validating tokens and binding them to attributes of the request. It also lets administrators see active sessions and terminate suspicious ones.
