What is Model Context Protocol (MCP) Support?

What does 'Model Context Protocol (MCP) Support' mean?

MCP is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools, data sources and services through a common interface, so each integration does not have to be built bespoke. In a coding assistant, MCP support means it can be pointed at servers exposing things like a codebase, a database, a ticketing system, or documentation, and use them as context or act on them. It gives buyers a route to extend an assistant with their own internal systems.
