What is Layer 7 Protection?
What does 'Layer 7 Protection' mean?
Security controls that operate at the application layer of the network stack, inspecting the content of HTTP and HTTPS requests rather than just packet headers. This lets the system distinguish legitimate visitors from attacks that mimic normal traffic, such as request floods aimed at expensive pages, credential stuffing, or bot scraping. It complements lower-layer defences that only look at network volume.
