What is Grounded Citations?
What does 'Grounded Citations' mean?
Grounded citations attach the retrieved passage to the generated answer, so a reader can see which source each claim came from and open it. Without them a retrieval pipeline cannot be debugged: a wrong answer gives no clue whether the search missed, the ranking misfired or the model ignored what it was given. Check whether citations point at a passage or merely at a document, and whether the product reports when it found no supporting passage at all.
