What is Citation Checking?
What does 'Citation Checking' mean?
Citation checking reads a finished document and verifies every legal and factual citation against the source it points at, flagging a quote that does not appear, a case that does not say what the sentence claims, and a record cite that leads nowhere. For litigation teams this is the step that catches a fabricated authority before a court does. Compare how the flags are presented, whether a Table of Authorities is built at the same time, and whether the check runs against your own exhibits as well as published law.
