What is Burn Rate Tracking?

What does 'Burn Rate Tracking' mean?

Measuring how quickly a business is spending its cash reserves, usually reported monthly and expressed as gross burn (total outflow) or net burn (outflow minus revenue). Paired with the current cash balance, it yields runway, the number of months before the money runs out at the present rate. It is a core metric for companies that are spending ahead of revenue and need to plan the next raise or cost cut.
