What is Artifact Management?

What does 'Artifact Management' mean?

Storing and cataloguing the outputs a machine learning workflow produces, such as trained model files, checkpoints, evaluation reports, plots and processed data. Each artifact is versioned and linked back to the run, code and inputs that created it, so it can be traced, compared or promoted to production later. It keeps important outputs out of ad-hoc folders and laptops, where they tend to be lost or overwritten.
