We used Varsity Tutors twice for SAT…

We used Varsity Tutors twice for SAT prep. Once for my son and two years later for my daughter. Generally, we are disappointed with this company. Specifically, the billing policy does not allow any flexibility. The membership starts immediately with a phone representative. It takes a few days to get matched with a tutor and then a few days more to complete the first session, if both you and the tutor's schedules line up quickly. Arianne K was the tutor chosen to help my first grade grandson in phonics/reading.. She demonstrated the patience of a saint. I like her teaching style. The ability to have a one on one session early in the school year should be extremely important and valuable at such a young age so the child does not fall behind the speed of the classroom teacher and will advance nicely with the rest of his classmates. Great one-to-one instruction

My initial tutoring session had some internet connection issues, but the second session was great. The tutor was very informed, explained things clearly, and asked me questions to better understand want I what to learn. I learned a lot, with more sessions to come.

Six year old who never liked school

My tutor for my 6 year old is so patient and helps keep my son on task. His attention span will only allow for a half hour session, but she does a wonderful job of keeping him engaged. After six sessions, my child who does not like school is still loving tutoring. She’s helping him build his confidence in himself.

Not worth the hassle

Could no longer deal with the incompetence of the staff. Tutors just don’t show or cancel without notice. We loved the tutors we had for my son, when we could actually get (and keep) one on a regular basis. I don’t even think the tutors liked working there. My kid didn’t learn very much.
