Spotsaas Editor’s POV

TriNet delivers a robust Professional Employer Organization (PEO) and HR technology platform tailored to small and medium-sized businesses that want to outsource payroll, benefits, compliance, and HR administration. By combining payroll processing, benefits administration, risk management, and human resources support under one roof, TriNet helps businesses ...Read more

TriNet pros and cons

  • Supports businesses through scaling teams, multiple states, and complex HR requirements.

  • TriNet stays current with employment law changes, reducing internal compliance burden.

  • Shared employer model helps businesses access enterprise-grade benefits and risk mitigation support.

  • Syncs HR data with accounting, ATS, and productivity systems via API and connectors.

  • Businesses that prefer to keep HR fully internal may find the PEO model less flexible.

  • Onboarding and data migration require coordination and time investment.

"Don't Do It. Just don't."

What do you like best about TriNet? If you're a very small company, dealing with a less than interested third-party isn't the end of the world. There is some convenience, but it doesn't come with piece-of-mind. There is also value to being in their pooled healthcare plans - again, mostly for small companies. What do you dislike about TriNet? Service. Service. And Service (or lack thereof). They are non-responsive, obstinate, clunky. Expect the bare minimum. Make sure you fully understand ...

"TriNet Customer Service has tanked in the last year!"

What do you like best about TriNet? Ease of having everything under one platform (payroll, time off tracking for PTO, Sick, etc, benefits are competitive, workers' comp, etc) What do you dislike about TriNet? I've worked with TriNet in two different companies over the course of 5 years (2016-present 2021) and their customer service has been decreasing year after year and especially in the last year the response times are incredibly slow where it takes them a few days to weeks to get back to ...

"Major Decline in Service with New Business Model"

What do you like best about TriNet? My company has been a client of TriNet's since 2014. In the past the service was excellent (depending on your account manager but they were generally good) and we received a response to our inquiries within the same day. They handled everything from our benefits to taxes and multi-location set ups. TriNet generally made things a breeze for us. They switched their model from having a dedicated account rep to something called Connect360 last month, which is ...

"Good vision but we experienced execution issues."

What do you like best about TriNet? Standard payroll is easy to run. Insurance prices are better than we could get on our own. What do you dislike about TriNet? Various modules do not integrate well. It's clear that many of the modules were acquired and do not interact well with the main payroll platform. For example, the time module requires a download to CSV and subsequent import to payroll, and the expense module is a legacy product that is grossly underpowered. It would have been better ...

"Everything in 1 location"

What do you like best about TriNet? My organization has been through several different HR solutions and Trinet is by far the best. The GUI is very intuitive and easy to navigate. What do you dislike about TriNet? I wish the benefits section under carriers only showed the benefits that I selected as a part of my plan or highlighted my selections. Recommendations to others considering TriNet: I would recommend TriNet over other solutions in the space. What problems is TriNet solving and how ...

"TriNet: Large Scale Online Payroll/Human Resources Services"

What do you like best about TriNet? There is no need to worry about local state regulations regarding employee employment, TriNet will help you. They do a job well done. We have the same health plan as a large company. What do you dislike about TriNet? The salary system is a bit complicated and you can use more flexibility. Integrated into our NetSuite accounting / ERP system. Recommendations to others considering TriNet: This is best for international companies that need to conduct ...

"Communicative During COVID"

What do you like best about TriNet? It's easy to view the next payday in the main interface, and makes it easy to route to the correct insurance portals. They have also been very communicative when I've reached out for assistance navigating medical policies during the pandemic. What do you dislike about TriNet? Benefits costs are increasing more than some competitors. What problems is TriNet solving and how is that benefiting you? Delivering payroll and benefits to employees.
