Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Trello's Kanban boards work well for task tracking and team collaboration, but assess your actual needs before committing. The free plan caps you at one Power-Up per board and lacks advanced reporting—if you need burndown charts, custom fields, or detailed workload analytics, you'll hit these limits quickly. The search function doesn't cover archived cards, so ...Read more

Trello pros and cons

  • Easy for new and experienced users to operate with minimal setup time.

  • Excellent tool for task organization with Kanban-style boards, drag-and-drop functionality, and customizable labels.

  • Supports team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and task delegation in remote or shift-based work environments.

  • Supports project tracking with features like checklists, due dates, color-coded alerts, and real-time updates to enhance productivity and clarity.

  • Limited capability for handling large or complex projects due to the lack of advanced features compared to specialized project management tools.

  • Archived tasks and boards are difficult to retrieve or review, causing frustration for long-term task tracking.

Novice Trello user find it clunky

What do you like best? Having never used Trello before, It was simple to set up. What do you dislike? It is very possible that I am not using Trello correctly or to it's full potential. It is hard to find my to do items and the calendar function was not working for me. I find the conversations difficult to follow. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Project management, collaboration and communication. Unfortunately, our project ...

Great for general product roadmap

What do you like best? I love using Trello as an online Kanban board. Our whole startup team uses it, and because our team is early stage and so small (currently 4, soon to be 5, it's important for everyone to stay in tune and up-to-date with what the priorities are and what the future roadmap looks like, for their own tasks, for other team members, and for the company. Trello is a great, simple tool for setting priority and viewing the roadmap (and the backlog in one setting, which is ...

A Simply Solution for Personal/Small Team Task Management, but Lacking Complexity

What do you like best? Using the Kanban concept for its UX, the software makes it easy for users to create a variety of different board to manage different projects and lists within each to segment those projects into specific categories. Very easy for you to create issues with certain due dates, tag them and attach users to them that need to pay attention to the task. Comments with '@ mentions' allow users to alert users on changes as well as keeping conversations within the ...

A great introduction to agile process for non-development teams

What do you like best? The free version still packs a good punch despite some groans around the limited use of power-ups. It has been a great tool for our sales and marketing team as a way of introducing the agile process and being the focal point of our daily stand-up meetings. Everyone is much more aware of what we're all working on and it has fostered a closer collaboration between sales and marketing efforts. What do you dislike? Would like to have the ability to make font style ...

Life saver

What do you like best? Trello is so easy. I love that you can dump everything that's into your brain and organize as you go along. I love how simple it is to move things around. I especially love how easy it is to collaborate What do you dislike? I wish that there were some templates for certain processes. For example if I'm thinking through a new Sales flow, but I'm getting caught up on the best way to lay it out, it would be great to just use template to guide me through ...

Social Media Sharing

What do you like best? I like that this is an easy way to store all of your information. It's easy to start new threads, share files, leave comments and communicate back and forth. What do you dislike? I think that sometimes the threads can get a little messy and messages can get lost. We primarily use it to share creative content, and sometimes it's difficult to find the right file or most recent post that we are looking for. Recommendations to others considering the product Be ...

Trello, the easiest way to plan a project

What do you like best? - You can use it for whatever project you want to achieve, from planning a trip to keep track of features for a new product. - It's easy and intuitive - The UI is quick and responsive, it is a pleasure to work with - Great integrations What do you dislike? - It's not as advanced as Jira for specific tasks like tech planning, bug reporting and so on. - Even if you have a great overview of all the ongoing things, I would like a better UI, like a side ...

A smart, easy and free solution for project management

What do you like best? This tool is incredible easy to learn, there's no huge "learning curve" like in most project management tools like Jira or Redmine. It's really simple and easy to use on small projects and with a little bit of planning it can also be used on big and long term projects. What do you dislike? I miss some features from other project management tools... the "card view" is useful most of the times, but I find that a good old list view is better from project planning. ...

Fast and easy task management, project management...and just general management.

What do you like best? I use Trello for the ability to get a quick snapshot of anything in a glance - I use it to organize my business and marketing plans, create action plans for clients, and even for personal items like plotting out manuscripts and planning weekly meals! This is the fastest and easiest way I have found to deliver marketing plans and launch plans to clients - as well as making it clear which tasks are theirs to handle. What do you dislike? I really do miss being ...

Makes it almost too easy to keep track of things

What do you like best? Trello is remarkably easy to use. It's clear that the development team put a premium on creating an intuitive user experience and it shows. I originally used it as a software development tracking platform, but I've found it helpful for additional uses such as scheduling our annual workshop. Each column becomes a day of activities with participating individuals assigned to those activities. Links to supporting documentation, videos, etc., are super easy to add and ...
