Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Trello's Kanban boards work well for task tracking and team collaboration, but assess your actual needs before committing. The free plan caps you at one Power-Up per board and lacks advanced reporting—if you need burndown charts, custom fields, or detailed workload analytics, you'll hit these limits quickly. The search function doesn't cover archived cards, so ...Read more

Trello pros and cons

  • Easy for new and experienced users to operate with minimal setup time.

  • Excellent tool for task organization with Kanban-style boards, drag-and-drop functionality, and customizable labels.

  • Supports team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and task delegation in remote or shift-based work environments.

  • Supports project tracking with features like checklists, due dates, color-coded alerts, and real-time updates to enhance productivity and clarity.

  • Limited capability for handling large or complex projects due to the lack of advanced features compared to specialized project management tools.

  • Archived tasks and boards are difficult to retrieve or review, causing frustration for long-term task tracking.

A must-have tool for starting managers

What do you like best? I'm a visual person, and Trello is able to display what needs to be done, who's working on what, and where it sits. I love the ability to create checklists within cards, and change ownership by dragging cards to columns or assigning a card to someone. Trello also keeps everything tracked somewhere. I've asked my team members to go in and put their emails into Trello so I can track it later on. What do you dislike? Once you have too many cards, you have to ...

Simple and effective

What do you like best? The user interface is simple and easy to use. I used it at work and personally. At work, it was easy to share, updated in real time and really helped organize projects. Personally I loved being able to see all that I needed to accomplish in one place. What do you dislike? I understand the need for simplicity to cut down clutter but there are some things you can do on the cards that you can't do within the cards or within lists on the cards. It would be nice to ...

Too Complicated to Help

What do you like best? I liked the idea of Trello and that my team could see where each other was in terms of steps for various projects. What do you dislike? It was too complicated to us. It just felt like a lot of busy work without a lot of payoff. Recommendations to others considering the product This ended up being more complicated than helpful. I wouldn't recommend it for a large team. I found it easier to use google docs and google calendars to coordinate projects. What ...

Trello as a collab tool, not a ticketing tool

What do you like best? The ease of use for users and staff is great. There is not a lot of learning needing to happen to work in Trello. It is very user friendly for collaboration. Also, the ease of customization is great, that way you can tell your different boards apart at first glance, which is helpful. All in all, this is a product I would like to use everywhere. What do you dislike? There should be a Windows 7 desktop application for it. Using the website is fine, but I would like ...

Excellent Tool!

What do you like best? I have a way to track what I am working on and what I have completed. When we have our weekly leadership meetings I am able to stand up and discuss topics based on severity. What do you dislike? I don't like that I have to archive something just to delete it. Not a big deal at all! Recommendations to others considering the product Use the free trial and go for it. Just remember not to try and put too much on one board, its easy to overwhelm yourself when ...

Great for collaborative product development and bug tracking

The way a heavily annotated card looks can get cumbersome to read through. Recommendations to others considering the product A great product to consider for affordable team collaboration. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We use it for product development and bug tracking.
