Speechify Reviews in May 2025: User Ratings, Pros & Cons

I wish I read these reviews before I downloaded! I tried a free trial and was disappointed. The audio skipped sections of words and would randomly stop. After this, I canceled my subscription and three days later my bank account was charged $139. After no luck with the company, I am now disputing the charge with my bank. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.

Another subscription trap

Another subscription trap. Sons of b****s. Plus the app hardly even f****** works.I put a block on the company through my bank so they couldn't take payments. Speechify then attempted to avoid the block by taking a payment through the Apple store instead. Fortunately my bank is not dumb and the payment through the Apple store was also blocked. Unfortunately this resulted in my bank card becoming completely blocked so I was unable to make payments at the supermarket or anywhere at all using ...

Doesn't work with Perlego

Doesn't work with e-readers like Perlego and suffers frequent glitches with voices. Whenever you download the app to a new device you have to suffer the entire intro again as if a new user, even entering details, before it'll let you click "sign in" instead. I've applied for a refund through google play.

Absolutely terrible

Absolutely terrible. I think it's disgusting that they are using my mental disorder (ADHD) to promote their product, and as someone who has diagnosed ADHD I can confirm speechify does absolutely nothing to help me learn. Stop using my disorder for your marketing.

SCAM

Payment was taken so quickly. I immediately unsubscribed and emailed asking for a refund nothing. went through paypal resolution centre and again nothing. it's a scam and an unhelpful website and company. customer service is NIL. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!! usually if a payment is taken for a subscription you can still request a refund as long as it is within 14 days. In my case it was less than 7 days infact I emailed them the same day the payment was taken out of my account and nothing. also ...

I wish I had checked these reviews prior to trying a "free trial" of Speechify. In the end the product was completely useless and I was charged an annual subscription fee.

Beware

Beware. After getting the HD version it has a word limit as well. Refunds are difficult with no customer service response. The app is buggy and screws around with your PDF even when its uploaded. Repeating lines etc is still a problem. They DO NOT give discounts when they say they will even after giving you a discount code. Google the names of the people leaving a good review and most of them are speechify employees. Clearly the company has no idea of how to handle stuff. Especially when ...

Nightmare from start to finish!

Absolutely terrible! I tried the 3 day free trial, found that it didn't work on PDF's or my Perlego account. I went to cancel, however I couldn't get the page to load. I finally managed to cancel through the customer service. Then they still took the payment, suddenly customer service weren't responding so had to go through my bank to get my £104 back. Definitely wouldn't recommend! Total con!
