Spotsaas Editor’s POV
SketchUp's main strength is its learning curve—most users move from basic to productive within days, not weeks. The 3D-to-2D conversion works reliably for architectural drawings and permit sets. The component library is extensive, which speeds up common tasks like adding doors, windows, and furniture. However, verify in a demo that the software handles your ...Read more

Easy as 1 2 3
What do you like best? Simple interface and easy to navigate for a 3D software. Not the most powerful but it delivers the essencial for daily 3D use. Excellent for a quick prototyping or a 3D sketch of a space. Photorealistic renderes can be done with third party plugins (not de ideal but very handy with you do not have another dedicated software to render. Files size are decent and easy to open in different versions. What do you dislike? Not able to use for complex surfaces and detailed ...

Sketchup solves our business problems
What do you like best? The 3-D aspect for rendering drawings of the duct work that we design for customers. It's easy to use and to learn. What do you dislike? I wish there were a few more options for easy customization versus having to jump through several different menus and templates. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? We are an industrial duct work company and we use the software to create 3-D models of facilities and how the ...

Simple, accesible 3D Modeling
What do you like best? SketchUp is free and simple enough to use. Plus, there's a TON of resources out there to support you. What do you dislike? Like any 3D modeling program, it can be a giant pain to use, particularly when creating more complex shapes and curves. Recommendations to others considering the product Here's the deal: SketchUp is free and there's a ton of free training stuff out there online, plus a giant database of existing, already modeled objects out there. I'm sure ...

Architect
What do you like best? The speed in generating useful images and models and then being able to share this with Clients. The fact that everyone is familiar with this platform makes this program easy to use, especially with new clients. What do you dislike? The simple (free version limits the ability to generate images with shadows. The other issue is the need for precision on more complex models that sometimes make editing difficult; again I use the program for its sped and simplicity. ...

SketchUp Experience
What do you like best? Simplicity and Speed. The program starts up quickly and developing ideas is very fluid. What do you dislike? Unstable on the Macintosh. The software tends to crash on closing a file. Recommendations to others considering the product Start with the basic program prior to adding a bunch of plugins. The extensions created by other users and companies make this a very successful program. There is likely a plug-in for any task you are trying to accomplish. The ...

Best 3D Modeling software for beginners, tinkerers, and hobbyists.
What do you like best? While most 3D Modeling softwares are complex and are not very functional for first time users. SketchUp is built from the ground up to be a unique modeling system where anyone can create anything without having to focus on unnecessary components. People who don't want to do a precisely measured model don't need to use the complicated system in other modeling systems, they can just draw and model to their ideas. It's so simple and easy to use that it's essentially the ...

SketchUp Review
What do you like best? SketchUp is easy to use, but a little harder to master. As an example, my four-year-old like to draw very imaginative creations in SketchUp. I have used it for educational and professional purposes. Overall I would call it an entry level visualization tool for the architectural professions. The model library is a great resource and time saver. The interface is really easy to understand. What do you dislike? It can be a bit buggy with larger files, sometimes with ...

The fact that everytime you draw something, all the faces stick together Recommendations to others considering the product It is very useful for sketching which is its name, obviously. It is also useful for a speedy design of some simple ...
