The component library is extensive, which speeds up common tasks like adding doors, windows, and furniture. However, verify in a demo that the software handles your ...Read more

Design for everybody

What do you like best? I have actually been utilizing SketchUp everyday in my kind of work. It is among the most convenient CAD programs I have actually utilized, along with one with a few of the very best assistance and neighborhoods I have actually taken part in. There are lots of designs in the 3D storage facility to gain from, or incorporate into your very own developments. It's for more than simply architectural and interior decoration. What do you dislike? It's too standard ...

ripped off by Trimble

What do you like best? Easy to use 3d modeling software that's being ruined by Trimble. What do you dislike? I paid for sketchup pro which was advertised with a set of features. One feature was the "add location" tool which allows you to geolocate and pull in google earth imagery and terrain data. I just discovered that Trimble disabled this feature in the version I bought and the only way I can get the feature back is to pay them more money! This is robbery. Plain and simple. If you ...

A Firm Favorite : But Not For Me...

What do you like best? I like the simplicity of modeling in SketchUp. It is incredibly easy to draw lines, make shapes, and turn them into forms. I find SketchUp to be great for simple massing studies. There is also a good amount of content readily available online, if someone like myself is using the software and does not want to create components themselves. What do you dislike? I dislike many things about SketchUp, but so many others in my firm and profession love this program so I may ...

I could make all architectural drawings with SketchUp & LayOut.

What do you like best? Three-dimensional modeling possible with minimal primitives. Be able to edit points, lines and surfaces directly. Two-dimensional CAD command that can utilize three-dimensional space. What do you dislike? The fact that the naming called SketchUp can not be associated with Building Information Modeling. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I was able to create all drawings related to architectural design with ...

Sketchup is the holy grail

What do you like best? I like how quickly I can build a model and then be able to export the model into other programs such as illustrator and rhino What do you dislike? I wish Sketchup didnt slow that as much as it does when you input texture. Recommendations to others considering the product Use it with ease, Sketchup can start to build up very quickly and lose its speed, you begin to miss out on swatches as you move around the model. For simple use I highly recommend sketchup to help ...

Have used Sketchup as a quick modeling solution for the AEC industry for over 10 years.

What do you like best? That it is free. I can do so much without having to upgrade to the Pro version. Its quick, easy to use and if modeled correctly, easy to edit. I use it to present my other 3d models as they styles really help create great marketing images of our 3D models. What do you dislike? It can be a little "organic" when modeling. I found the learning curve a bit steep to be able to create good quality models. Recommendations to others considering the product 1. Buy the Pro ...

Great for certain applications

What do you like best? Simple direct-draw interface without a separate "sketch" step, which sometimes confuses users who are new to CAD. Great flexibility with keyboard shortcuts. What do you dislike? Limited functionality due to relatively simple interface. No export for 3D printing in free version. Recommendations to others considering the product For more power that is also free, including export for 3D printing, look at AutoDesk Fusion 360. Longer learning curve, but well worth it! ...

Great tool for 3D modelling

What do you like best? I use SketchUp to design furniture and fixtures and I can develop 3D models with precise measurements and develop very accurate materials lists. What do you dislike? SketchUp requires a good bit of time invested in learning the software. What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Creating accurate project plans for building projects and working out the engineering and assembly problems digitally before cutting any wood!
