Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

No longer tied to Fireworks or Illustrator! Thank you!

What do you like best? I just love how light-weight and easy to use Sketch is - the new features for developing a library of components and syncing with InvisionApp have simplified my life no end! I love the way in which you can quickly pull together a design and publish it ... iterate on it and re-sync! SO simple - and works great even though it's still beta! I also love the new intro panel/launch pad when you first open the app. What do you dislike? Sometimes designs can get off ...

Great Alternative to Photoshop

What do you like best? It is very simple to use and exports assets with ease. What do you dislike? Almost all of the things that I didn't originally like about the software has been updated to meet user needs. Sketch is great about updating their software based on user feedback. Recommendations to others considering the product: Learn as much as you can and take advantage of all the material out there for the program. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits ...

The Perfect UI Design Tool

What do you like best? Sketch is built for UI design. All of the features and functions are geared toward that use-case. There aren't a ton of photography tools or unrelated workflow tools, it's all UI. What do you dislike? The keyboard shortcut learning curve was tough coming out of another popular application after many years of use. It wasn't the worst, but if I had to pick and issue that would be one. The software updates introduce performance bugs pretty regularly, but they are ...

Excellent tool with a few issues to be sorted out

What do you like best? Sketch is one of the best design tools I have come across. I was initially heavy into using Axure and Photoshop for design work but sketch has allowed me to combine my wireframing and design work flow into one tool. The number of useful features it offers are numerous including a short learning curve, incredible number of plugins which greatly extend its functionality, excellent keyboard shortcuts to do almost anything and a very responsive community on Facebook. ...

Great product with a lot of flexibility

What do you like best? Its focused set of tools specifically for web design. Intuitive and easy to use. What do you dislike? As a designer used to Adobe products, I find myself using Adobe keyboard shortcuts that don't work on Sketch, and it often disrupts my flow. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? I use Sketch as a quick way to visualize a concept and show to stakeholders. Benefits include smooth communication among team members and ...

Game changer for UI design

What do you like best? Very simple to use, has a lot of potential for expansion through the numerous plugins available. It has a ton of built-in templates that you can use for any project you're working on. What do you dislike? Some basic things seem a bit buggy, especially text editing. The layers sidebar could use some use in order to make it look more organized. Recommendations to others considering the product: Google "best Sketch plugins" to find a ton of useful plugins that ...

The best software for UI!

What do you like best? I use Illustrator for many things, but when I am designing a website, I exclusively use Sketch. The features are way better and the apps/plugins you can download to use and help with that outweighs anything that Illustrator can do. I LOVE that you can export assets for the site and they are saved out perfectly for the developer to use. What do you dislike? I don't like that it is not a replacement for Illustrator, there are many things that are not easy to do on ...
