Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

Easy, watered down version of Adobe CC

What do you like best? Simple, easy to learn, seems to be efficient in compressing files. What do you dislike? Poor usability in selecting and manipulating objects, pen tool is pretty garbage compared to Adobe CC. Recommendations to others considering the product: Adobe CC is better. At least it is cheap and doesn't require a subscription plan though. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Use it for wireframing, quick diagramming etc.

A good, lightweight design tool... for certain things

What do you like best? Sketch meets almost all of my design needs, except for true photo editing. I put together wireframes, flows, and various other diagrams quickly and easily. It also has a ton of helpful integrations. What do you dislike? There is no support for photo editing. There is also limited support for site mapping for larger projects which can make navigating between art boards frustrating. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? ...

Growing list of features and incredible performance

What do you like best? It's easy to wireframe and mockup user flows and interfaces then turn around and create high fidelity designs right in the same application. What do you dislike? Vector tools are slightly behind Illustrator and lack of a dark mode interface option is rough on the eyes. Recommendations to others considering the product: There's a lot of tutorials covering the basics and some that cover useful 3rd party plugins. They helped us understand some of the features we ...

MORE KEY COMMANDS PLEASE

What do you like best? I love the ease of use, I like the cleanliness of the UI. What do you dislike? I don't like that there aren't more key commands for things. I want a key command like there is in the adobe programs for moving objects up and down in the layers. I don't like that the key command for the pen tool is "v" which by habit is the key I click in every other adobe program for the selector tool and it brings up the pen tool and makes my workflows so much slower because I've ...

Industry standard -- but doesn't match CC

What do you like best? Very simple to get started.Easy tutorials and onboarding is really quite good. Lots of templates, which makes learning and using really easy. The templates are probably the best thing in Sketch. Perfect for the beginner through intermediate UX designer. My students pick it up very quickly. There're lots of plugins to make annotating and prototyping really easy. And more are being created every day. Nice way to output assets. Sketch is adding features all the ...

Prototyper's Absolute Dream

What do you like best? First, the UI of the app is extremely refined and clean. If you are used to Mac OS apps this will feel right at home. The wide acceptance within the UI/UX space makes this a no brainer to start using. The development team of Sketch is extremely responsive to the community in terms of bugs. With each update they quickly resolve bugs that have been filed making this App always up to date. What do you dislike? I wish there was more integration with UI ...

Tool for designers!

What do you like best? It's an amazing program if your thing is to draw in vectorize image. It is really easy to catch and to start on it and not really dificult to get deep into it's tools. It's simple and easy to navigate through. An incredible tool if you are working in a designing company. What do you dislike? It's not a tool for photo-editing. Use it only as a tool for sketch, as it's name tell us. Also one of the main problems was that I could not installed on my Windows, so that ...

New standard in design, a must have in your design stack!

What do you like best? Easy-of-use, lightweight, completely replaces the need for adobe creative suite, managing multiple artbooks, symbols/templating. What do you dislike? Lack of collaboration with others, versioning control, interaction design, and integration with other systems. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Lean UX, Rapid prototyping, communicating designs to development teams. Symbols have been one of the greatest assets to ...

Most intuitive to learn enough to make things look good

What do you like best? Much easier to measure distance between objects so you can pixel push efficiently and convert straight to CSS. Great for marketing team to manipulate product assets for promotional materials, ads, etc. Cuts out a lot of middle man time. What do you dislike? Dislike some layering options and default settings options but overall not a lot I do not like! Sharing could be easier. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? ...

Great design software quickly becoming the product design standard.

What do you like best? It's incredibly simple for non-designers. The software is also built around collaboration and scale. It's easy to collaborate with others using the software, build templates, styles, etc. to more easily collaborate on projects. What do you dislike? There's not much to dislike about Sketch — especially for someone who isn't a designer. Sketch is just now really upping their monetization, so the only risk is to see whether they will be able to still compete and ...
