Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Sketch is macOS and iPad only—if your team uses Windows or Linux, you'll need a separate tool or browser-based alternative for those users. The color picker has a known lag when sampling from external applications, which matters if you're matching brand palettes frequently. Before committing, verify in a demo that Sketch's component system (symbols) works for ...Read more

A Faster Web Design Experience

What do you like best? The tools are created for web & mobile design, so no extras that a developer can't code out. Anything you do in Sketch can easily be developed for a web based setting. The extensions can really add some crazy features to the app. What do you dislike? Crashes more than Photoshop, but at least the auto-save is decent. Sometimes things you want to do, like just cut out an image, requires a more robust program. Recommendations to others considering the product: ...

Just like Illustrator, only cheaper and more robust!

What do you like best? Syncs with Invision easily; symbols are great to maintain consistency across own project and across entire design team. What do you dislike? Hotspots don’t transfer well to Invision Recommendations to others considering the product: Symbols are a great tool if you set it up right. It syncs artboards to Invision easily. Works just like Illustrator, only cheaper and more robust for prototyping. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have ...

Great user experience

What do you like best? It is super user friendly and easy to learn. Sketch has got me looking like a pro. What do you dislike? It seems like a somewhat new software and sometimes can be a little glitchy. Recommendations to others considering the product: Find plugins! They take sketch from an okay software to an amazing software and create functionality that you may not have otherwise. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Saas b2b ...

Very useful for UI/UX development

What do you like best? Symbol syncs and ability to install plugins to help integrate with prototyping tools such as balsamiq and invision. What do you dislike? There’s not much I dislike. Obviously more integration support would be nice. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? New product enhancements and designs for future development. We are able to rapid prototype at a much faster rate than we have been able to previously.

Sketch Review

What do you like best? It makes creating the look and visual portion of a website very easy. It integrates with other programs easily and there are so many plugins available to make it even easier to use. What do you dislike? I wish there was built-in prototyping. It would make the program perfect! Recommendations to others considering the product: Definitely try it out. It lacks the prototyping function, but it is so easy to use and has a lot of other great built-in functions. ...

My go-to tool for designing literally everything

What do you like best? Out of all the design platforms I've encountered, Sketch is the easiest to use. I now prefer using Sketch for even print and marketing materials, in addition to product and interface designs. The pared-down interface (comparative to Adobe tools, is incredibly powerful and abundant plugins fill in any gaps in functionality. But my favorite feature by far is the ability to measure pixels between objects, a game-changer that now makes Illustrator harder for me to use. ...

Great lightweight design tool

What do you like best? It's lightweight and easy to use. The endless board is great, too. With Craft, you can also sync your screens to Invision. What do you dislike? When the file get too big (probably when I have 100s of screens, it keeps on crashing. Not being able to save multiple layout grids. What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? Being able to design, iterate and compare my creations quickly.

I still prefer illustrator

What do you like best? The wire framing capabilities are excellent What do you dislike? It’s a learning curve and it’s far more difficult to create vectors on sketch Recommendations to others considering the product: If you’re new to UX/UI design you might like this but as an experienced adobe user, i found sketch to be less comfortable What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized? application and website wire framing is absolutely necessary so ...
