My Sitefinity Review
What do you like best? ASP.NET/C# framework Module Builder Sitefinity API Scaleability and Reliability Hierarchical management of objects Allows extensive management and creation of content by non-developers What do you dislike? Some modules, such as Campaigns, don't allow backend tweaks so custom interfaces are needed Its pretty slow compared to other CMS's Recompiles after a set number of widget updates Recommendations to others considering the product Best CMS out there ...

Solid and secure CMS
What do you like best? Sitefinity makes it easy to deploy content to our website. As the developer for the organization, I am able to set up a page structure and let the departments add content themselves. Things are organized nicely. What do you dislike? We mainly use Sitefinity to accept donations for our non-profit but the eCommerce module doesn't fully support this. We had to make our own widget to allow variable pricing but it is a pain to fix when new Sitefinity versions are ...

Sitefinity Flexability
What do you like best? What I like about Sitefinity is the freedom, flexibility and control I have to cerate custom modules and widgets to make content managers experience easy. This ability also allows me to show how the platform can be extended from just displaying a website but to actually running the business. What do you dislike? The platform can have a big start up time and upgrade process across environments are improving. The system lacks the support for a distributed cache ...

Powerful, full-featured and extensible platform for .NET
What do you like best? The best part of Sitefinity is its flexibility; there are many different ways to do certain things, and no one way is better or worse than the other; rather it's a matter of choosing the path that best fits your team, workflow, and experience. The standard features fill most needs of a website, with customizations in layout and style being easily achieved without the need of a developer or even opening the project in Visual Studio. What do you dislike? Out of the ...

Two Large Scale Implimentations under my belt.
What do you like best? .NET ecosystem. The dynamic modules made it easy to set up custom types. Nice interface for setting up page hierarchy and easy for clients to manipulate pages. Master template system nice. What do you dislike? Ecommerce modules could you alot of work. Multisite providers can be a bit confusing to understand, as each site has its own provider that differs from the default. Recommendations to others considering the product If you're looking for an ecommerce platform, ...

Powerful, with frustrations
What do you like best? Easy to drop in a text or image box and move things around. What do you dislike? Not always the most intuitive -- it's often difficult to find the things you need since they use unnatural naming. Do you want to add a footer? You need to create it in a "content block". They imply you don't need to know HTML code to make things work the way you want them to work, but you do end up needing to know HTML -- or hire someone who does. What business problems are you solving ...

Attempts to be all things to all people
What do you like best? The content management interface is very friendly to non-technical users. If you intend to mostly use the out-of-the-box functionality, Sitefinity is a good, though expensive, product. What do you dislike? Sitefinity does not seem to consider developers as customers to care for. Heaven help you if you need to write custom widgets. We are using Feather MVC for development. The compilation cycle (local build, and page refresh on a normal MVC site takes 5 - 20 seconds. ...
