Spotsaas Editor’s POV

Quicken's core strength is tax-focused personal finance tracking, particularly for self-employed users and small business owners managing 1099 income. Before shortlisting, verify that the software handles your specific tax situation—it excels at income categorization and deduction tracking but has limitations in multi-entity accounting and payroll processing. ...Read more

I've used Quicken for more than 20 years. Don't use advanced features such as downloading from financial institutions, mostly just as an ongoing ledger. Not thrilled that it is now a subscription service rather than one time buy of program like it was long ago, but the times, they are achangin'!

I enjoy the graphical interface on the different pages/widgets and enjoy not having to perform a transaction update everyday the way I had to do in Quicken Classic. Very easy to read. Everything just happens seamlessly.

I have been using Quicken for over 20 years and am deeply satisfied with the software. In the past I tried 2 other brands of financial software and found them sorely lacking in comparison to Quicken.

It's great that I can download all my purchases on the credit card directly to the app. I can match all my receipts easily. I don't have to worry about repurchasing every year as it is done automatically. I can see exactly how much I have in each account without having to go to all different account separately. I would be very unhappy if they were to stop making this app.

Quicken makes it so easy to prepare for my income taxes. Every category can be listed by transaction and/or just totals. Easy to look up what I have previously paid for bills or monetary gifts over the years. I can't be without it.

Better than the old check & savings books registers

I am able to keep up to date information of all my monetary transactions to avoid missed payments or overdrafts.

One of the great things I use Quicken for is the savings goal feature. I use the savings goals as envelopes where i can keep funds for future use such as annual insurance bill. I can put a specific amount in envelope once a month and the money is there when bill is due. Hope that helps.
