I'm "semi-old school"!
I'm "semi-old school", so I've ditched the actual check register, but I can't actually calculate (or remember) the rest of my expenses in my head. So for me, Quicken is amazing for helping remember what's coming up, reconcile my statement, and figure out where my money has gone (percentage-wise).

Ease for forecasting, tracking expenses and taxes.
Quicken makes it easy to track all my expenditures and to forecast income and payments so I stay within my budget. This works for both my personal income and expenses, as well for my investments and small businesses, as tags keep them separated. At the end of the year, Quicken gives me reports by tag and category, making it easy to fill out my tax forms.

Quicken - the stalworth that has been there (and made a big difference) for us for over 30 years
Quicken is the only legacy comprehensive software package (that I know of) that allows you to control and house your own data. It has it's quirks, which legacy software does, but it has been instrumental in controlling our financial future (and past) over the last 30+ years. Hard to imagine a world without it.
