PRTG is a great tools for all size shops.
PRTG is a great tools for all size shops. 100 sensors come for free so even small shops can implement it. By monitoring network traffic and workstations you can be alerted before users start complaining.

Great monitoring platform with minimal setup and maintenance
Nice thing about PRTG is it will cover 80-90% of your monitoring needs with minimal setup and ongoing maintenance. Highly recommended. We use it for monitoring system, application & db uptime and performance.
