NordVPN is my favorite.
I’ve used NordVPN for three years now and I am very pleased with it. I do a lot of research online and I feel like it is the best VPN for the money. I have not had any connection issues at all and I feel like my connection and data are secure. A free service is nice to have but you get what you pay for in cybersecurity.

The app works almost perfectly, and you can turn it on automatically for whatever situation you desire. You can choose to connect to servers in multiple countries, and the speed difference between a "quick" connection and not using the service is negligible. Some features that come with the cost of service are Double VPN, Obfuscated Servers, Onion over VPN, and P2P. You can also purchase a dedicated IP at an additional charge.
